Ho avuto bisogno di qualche giorno per riflettere su cosa mi abbia lasciato davvero Skopje.
Oltre alle mille emozioni, alle impressioni più forti, che sono poi le prime a scomparire.

La Biennale mi ha fatto sognare che sia possibile intrecciare la dimensione locale e quella globale perché davvero ci si incontri. Non a metà strada, ma in una dimensione nuova in cui mettersi in gioco, finalmente. Portando con sé le proprie origini, o meglio, avendocele dentro, innegabilmente. E rendersi conto che neppure il nostro inglese stentato rappresenta un ostacolo. Perché l’essenziale nella comunicazione è la volontà di comunicare. Per questo non dimenticherò mai il mio incontro con Pavlina, che del resto non parlava affatto inglese, neppure un inglese stentato.

Quello che più ho amato di questa Biennale sono state le improvvisazioni, tutto ciò che non era stato programmato ed è accaduto, dando vita a momenti unici.

Ho la sensazione che tutto sia diventato incredibilmente più vicino.

Many of us are visiting Skopje for the first time. First impressions don’t last very long. In a few days everything will seem familiar to us and these impressions will be lost.

Virale.org invites you to share a photo, a video or a thought about the city of Skopje.

Which was your first impression arriving at Skopje? Which is for you the individual character of the city? How does it make you think about the transformations of contemporary cities? How are they changing? How do you imagine the city of the future?

Follow Virale’s wake!

The first day in Skopje for the Virale group was hard, but very exciting (look here our photos). 15 people (among them visual artists, performers, coordinators, performers, programmers and editors) have been working since the early morning, setting up the interactive installation Cooking Skopje, which is the result of a 6 months lasting project by Arci Lombardia.

After the registration at the meeting point, the first step was the setting up of our workstation on the first floor of the Creativity House. Here you will have the chance to get in touch with the artists of the group, to meet the editorial staff of Virale.org and – above all – to visit our interactive installation. Visitors, artists and critics are invited to “cook” their own imaginary Skopje finding the best balance between different architectural elements, which build contemporary cities: historical buildings, green areas, houses and industrial areas.

At the same time we would like to invite everyone to think about the topics of city development and planning. Finally we are online on Virale.org, a virtual space where the Biennal artists can meet together and exchange opinions about the city of Skopje and this extraordinary event. Tonight we have already had a beautiful impression of the city with the opening party and its music and dances in Skopje’s historical centre.
